At the table this season
Game day. Full plates.
Good company.
Football season around here isn’t just a sport—it’s a full-blown event. Start with a snack, make a plate, and leave room for something sweet.
A Bayou Belle signature
From scratch
or shortcut?
Some days you’re making it all. Some days a ready-made pie crust is doing its part. There’s room for both at this table.
Make the tzatziki yourself, or use Joy’s shortcut: buy it ready-made. Her Apple Crumble Pie puts a store-bought crust to work, too.
Make it or buy it: tzatziki
From scratch
Cool, creamy, and just enough Cajun to keep it interesting.
- 2 cups Greek yogurt
- 2 tbsp grated cucumber (strain well—then strain again)
- Fresh dill, to taste
- 1/2–1 tsp Slap Ya Mama white pepper blend
- 2 cloves garlic, grated
- 1/2 tsp vinegar
- 1 tsp lemon juice
Combine all ingredients and mix well. Chill for a few hours—or overnight—to let the flavors develop.
Shortcut
Buy ready-made tzatziki at the store and serve it alongside your chicken pitas. Follow the package directions for keeping and serving it.
A note from Joy: I have a hard time finding it here! The last few times I’ve used Cedar’s. Use what you can find and enjoy—no particular brand required.

Creamy creole mustard chicken
Looking for a bold Southern dinner recipe? These Creamy Creole Mustard Chicken Thighs are seared to golden perfection, coated in a silky Creole cream sauce, and served over buttery herbed grits. A Louisiana-inspired comfort food dish that’s cozy, flavorful, and weeknight-friendly!
Mardi Gras Pasta
Mardi Gras Pasta from The Bayou Belle is a creamy, Cajun-inspired pasta with a little kick, jazzed up with bold Louisiana flavor. Made with tender chicken or seafood, this festive New Orleans–style dish brings Carnival vibes to the table with rich sauce, subtle heat, and soulful Southern flair.
Cajun Boiled Lobster
Cajun Boiled Lobster, Louisiana-style.
If you think lobster needs nothing but butter, let me lovingly prove you wrong. This Cajun boiled lobster is cooked the same way we treat crawfish and shrimp—loaded with spice, bold flavor, and zero apologies. It’s messy, indulgent, and the exact moment I finally understood the lobster obsession… once it met the Bayou.
Creamy Creole Pork Medallions
Pan-seared pork medallions in a creamy Creole mustard sauce served in a skillet with Southern seasoning.
10-Minute Shrimp
Ten minutes. One bowl. Zero patience required.
This shrimp recipe is for the nights you’re hungry now—not after a playlist, a glass of wine, and a full emotional spiral. Toss, roast, eat. That’s it. It’s bold, herby, lemony, and just fancy enough to look like you tried… without actually trying.
Perfect for weeknights, date nights, or when you want real food fast and absolutely refuse to babysit a stove. 🍤✨
(Warning: once you make this, “What’s for dinner?” becomes a very short conversation.)
Smoked Brisket Salad
Smoky, bold, and anything but boring—this Smoked Brisket Salad is where backyard barbecue meets fresh Southern comfort. Tender smoked brisket piled over crisp greens and tossed with a creamy homemade Ranch Caesar dressing, bringing big, hearty flavor to every bite. Perfect for using up leftover brisket or feeding a hungry crowd without turning on the stove.
Crawfish Fettuccini
Creamy, Cajun, and straight-up dangerous—this Crawfish Fettuccine is Louisiana comfort food at its finest. Tender crawfish tails tossed in a rich, savory sauce and wrapped around fettuccine noodles like they were meant to be together all along. It’s the kind of dish you make for company… and then quietly guard the leftovers like a secret. Perfect for crawfish season, special dinners, or anytime you need a little bayou magic on your plate. 🦞🍝
