Hi! I love Asian food. Raise your hand if you do.  I know, you're all absolutely raising your hand right now.
So one day, we went to one of those popular Asian places where everyone talks about getting the "Orange Chicken".  So I did, and I hated it.  Too bitter for me. So I got in my kitchen and made some that I love. A little sweet and a little spicy, the way life should be!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb chicken tenders cut into bite sized pieces
  • Oil for frying
  • 1-2 cups cornstarch
  • 3 eggs
  • Sauce:
    • 1 cup chicken broth
    • 1/2 cup orange juice (no pulp)
    • 1/4 cup white sugar
    • 1/4 cup white distilled vinegar
    • 1/4 cup soy sauce
    • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
    • 1/4 tsp powdered ginger
    • 1 tsp red pepper flakes

Directions:

  • Cut chicken into bite sized pieces
  • Heat oil in the pan you will fry in
  • Place cornstarch in one bowl and crack eggs into a separate bowl- scramble the eggs
  • Place chicken into the egg bowl
  • Take chicken out of the egg mixture, one handful at a time and mix in the cornstarch mixture
  • Mix around the chicken to get it covered with cornstarch
  • Place one piece at a time into the hot oil
  • Fry until golden and done
  • Make Sauce:
    • Place all ingredients into a skillet
    • Let it reduce down
    • When it starts to thicken up, remove from the heat and add your chicken
    • Toss it around and serve
