orange chicken
Hi! I love Asian food. Raise your hand if you do. I know, you're all absolutely raising your hand right now.
So one day, we went to one of those popular Asian places where everyone talks about getting the "Orange Chicken". So I did, and I hated it. Too bitter for me. So I got in my kitchen and made some that I love. A little sweet and a little spicy, the way life should be!
Ingredients:
- 1 lb chicken tenders cut into bite sized pieces
- Oil for frying
- 1-2 cups cornstarch
- 3 eggs
- Sauce:
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup orange juice (no pulp)
- 1/4 cup white sugar
- 1/4 cup white distilled vinegar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp powdered ginger
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
Directions:
- Cut chicken into bite sized pieces
- Heat oil in the pan you will fry in
- Place cornstarch in one bowl and crack eggs into a separate bowl- scramble the eggs
- Place chicken into the egg bowl
- Take chicken out of the egg mixture, one handful at a time and mix in the cornstarch mixture
- Mix around the chicken to get it covered with cornstarch
- Place one piece at a time into the hot oil
- Fry until golden and done
- Make Sauce:
- Place all ingredients into a skillet
- Let it reduce down
- When it starts to thicken up, remove from the heat and add your chicken
- Toss it around and serve
