cube steaks with peppers and brown gravy
What can I say? Sometimes you just want a good ole country style dinner.
I love this dinner because it just reminds me of home. If you go to a home-style restaurant or a buffet here, you will find this on the menu. It's just one of those meals that brings us Southerners comfort. Make some rice. Serve it with a green side, and don't forget the rolls!
Ingredients:
- 5-6 cube steaks
- 2 cups flour
- 3 tbsp slap ya mama
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 cup sliced green bell pepper
- 1 cup sliced onion
- 3 tsp slap ya mama
- 32 oz beef broth
Directions:
- Place oil in the bottom of a frying skillet
- Heat to medium-high
- Place flour and slap ya mama in a bowl
- Batter each side of the cube steak
- Fry until golden on each side
- Remove from pan and set aside while you make sauce
- If there is too much oil, remove some from the pan and keep about 1/4-1/2 cup of oil
- Add flour and stir around and brown it
- Add onions and bell peppers
- Cook down until soft and add slap ya mama seasoning
- Add beef broth and mix well
- Add more broth if needed
