Apple Custard Pie
When I first started dating my husband, he would try to make little dishes for me. It was cute, and of course I thought it was very sweet. Being that I knew nothing about cooking, it went a long way.
So this pie, he always talked about it, his mom made it but never had actual measurements for the pie. He would try his hardest to make it, but it would always end up so runny.
You’d cut it and basically be eating milk, apples and pie crust. The taste was there, it just wasn’t executed right.
So after a number of years, I finally told him please stop making it! How horrible, right? But he understood, because really, who wants a wet pie?
When I started getting more confident with baking, I decided I wanted to take that pie and try to make it so it was actually right. I think we finally have it. It’s a great custard consistency, still wet but not runny. The flavors are everything you want when eating an apple sweet. Try it out! :)
