If you’ve ever been to The Butcher, an eatery in New Orleans, you’ve seen this sweet little pie staring you right in the face when you check out. When I first saw that thing, I knew I was going to eat it. Then when I ate it, I knew I had to learn how to make it. Not necessarily because I like things with nuts, because I’m actually allergic (not deathly- obviously!). However, my daddy likes all things nuts and I knew he’d love it too! So sure enough, I made it, he loved it.
The original one at Butcher is made with peanuts. So you can switch it around how you’d like it. I used cashews just because! I love cashews.
It is a sweet little pie, so be ready!
Ingredients:
5 tbsp butter
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 can condensed milk
Directions:
Heat oven to 350
Heat up a sauté pan
Place nuts in there with no butter, and toast them for a minute or two until browned but careful not to burn them
Set them aside
Melt butter in a sauté pan
Add all other ingredients and bring to a boil
It will boil up and get really foaming/bubbly looking
Allow that to happen for about 5 minutes
Mix in nuts
Pour into pre-made pie shell
Bake for 35-40 minutes until set
